Daniel Phillips

Daniel started his career at Dean Newbery working in the taxation and business services department before moving across to external audit. His previous experience in accounting and taxation services has given him a strong appreciation for the key business risks to be considered in financial report preparation when undertaking client audits — and an understanding of the process from the other side of the table, which allows him to work efficiently and constructively with client finance teams.

Daniel's audit experience spans aged care, ACNC-registered charities, Local Government, real estate trusts, large private clubs, private companies and other not-for-profit entities. That breadth has given him familiarity with the distinct reporting frameworks, funding arrangements and compliance obligations that apply across each of these sectors, and the judgement to tailor an audit approach to the circumstances of the entity rather than applying a standard template.

Daniel's experience extends beyond audit. He also performs accounting assistance roles for clients in the areas of financial statement preparation, accounting standards compliance review and internal audit — support that is particularly valuable to smaller organisations and boards without in-house technical accounting resources.
